FACILITATOR TRAINING

Day One - Monday

8:00 - 8:30 Registration, continental breakfast, pre-conference introduction
8:30 - 10:15

Introduction to the Parent Project, Problems parents face in present day society: goals and target population of the Parent Project®.

10:15 - 11:30 Program development: roots in law enforcement, education, and mental health.
11:30 - 12:30 Lunch (provided on-site)
12:30 - 2:30

Unit 1: Presentation of curriculum.  Love and Affection, Causes of Delinquency, the Strong-Willed Child, and Effective Interventions.

2:30 - 4:45

Unit 2: Presentation of curriculum: Confronting Problematic Behavior, Reason vs. Emotion, How to Never Argue Again, Tips for Confronting, Do’s and Don’ts.

4:45 - 5:00 Review.

 

Day Two - Tuesday

8:00 - 8:30 Continental breakfast and networking opportunities with other agencies
8:30 - 10:00

Parent Project’s Program Philosophy, Philosophical Underpinnings

10:00 - 10:15 Break
10:15 - 11:30

Behavior Modification
Program Implementation Preparation

11:30 - 12:30

Lunch (provided, on-site)

12:30 - 2:30

Unit 3: Presentation of curriculum. Active Supervision, Structure, Improving School Performance and Attendance.

2:30 - 2:45 Break
2:45 - 4:45 Unit 4: Presentation of curriculum. Alcohol and Other Drug Use, Prevalence, Prevention, Identification, and Intervention.
4:45 - 5:00 Review.

 

Day Three - Wednesday

8:00 - 8:30 Continental breakfast and networking opportunities with other agencies
8:30 - 11:30

Unit 5: Presentation of curriculum. Prevention, Identification and Intervention Negative Peer Associations, including gangs, dating relationships; Runaway children, Violent children.

11:30 - 12:30 Lunch (provided, on-site)
12:30 - 1:30

Overview of Unit 6: Summary of Major principles, Development of Personalized Action Plans addressing most Critical Behavior.

1:30 - 3:00

Facilitators overview of Unit 7: Support Groups.

3:00 - 3:45 Break
3:45 - 4:45 Program Implementation Strategies.
4:45 - 5:00 Review.
   
6:00 - 9:00 PM Optional evening workshop- Program Delivery: Teen Curriculum
"Personal and Social Responsibility"
Identify Target Population, Develop Personal Classroom Management Strategy, Curriculum Benefits, Curriculum Overview

 

Day Four - Thursday

8:00 - 8:30 Continental breakfast and informal project planning and implementation
8:30 - 10:00

Adult Teaching Strategies, Adult Learners, Instructional Strategies, Learning Modalities.

10:00 - 10:15 Break
10:15 - 11:30

Practice Presentations, Effective Presentations.

11:30 - 12:30

Lunch (provided, on-site)

12:30 - 2:30

Practice Presentations

2:30 - 2:45 Break
2:45 - 4:45 Establishing Collaborative Relationships
4:45 - 5:00 Review.

 

Day Five - Friday

8:00 - 8:30 Continental breakfast and Informal review of process.
8:30 - 10:00

Practice Presentations

10:00 - 10:15 Break
10:15 - 11:30

Practice Presentations and Program Implementation Strategies
